You do not need the installation kit to run Ecco from an USB drive.

Copy your existing Ecco folder (the one where ecco32.exe is located) to the USB, add Eccoext.exe to the folder and run eccoext.exe instead of ecco32.exe. By the way, there is much more in the Eccoext besides the ability to run Ecco without installation and without administrative privileges.

I have not used my Ecco in years. I was an original Ecco adapter,
coming over from PackRat. I have the 32 bit version on my old W98
machine. License ECCOWA-001-LI2E401.

I copied all of my Ecco folder onto a USB stick, but apparently the 32
bit version does not have the Eccoext.exe file. I have two installation
files:

update32.exe 6,611KB 8/27/1997 11:46AM
Setup32.exe 6,564KB 7/23/2005 9:57AM

I'm guessing that I am out of luck trying to run Ecco 32 from a USB
stick on my XP machine, 4GB RAM

Is the 64 bit version still around for download?

I'm thinking that at age 74 I want to start using Ecco again.

Thanks in advance for your patience.

I picked up your note on the below. I don't find "Eccoext.exe" in my
program. Is it on the yahoo group site?

Remember to join the "Ecco_pro" Yahoo User Group at
"http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/ecco_pro/join" to download the free
extensions.

To be able to add the latest Ecco Extensions to our download area I
would need the permission of the programmer/creator "slangmgh". Sadly, I
have not heard of Slang, but one of the Group Administrators "YSWT"
denied us the permission to add the extensions to our download area.

Well, I'm signed in and I don't see a darn thing about Ecco. No
messages. No dowloads. Just Yahoo garbage and ads.

What am I doing wrong after 33 years of communicating on line?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Its alive! Its alive on my thumb drive!   Ecco Pro now works again!  Thanks to all.  Friedhelm was great with backup question on why it wont print...HP J4550 is a flawed printer and it worked on a network printer.   Thanks much to all...now look forward to more primitive questions.

After you are signed in, go to the File section and download the file eccoext4.6.1.8.7z (Ecco extension v4.6.1.8). Perhaps you will need to download another program to open the .7z archive.

Or you may use a direct link: http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/ecco_pro/files/eccoext4.6.1.8.7z You need to be a member of our sister group "Ecco_pro" to download the file.

Alternatively, if you don't mind, I may send you the file by email.

By the way, if you do not need to run Ecco Pro from an USB drive by only need to install it under Windows 7 there are several installers available, e.g.

Hi,

What a kind offer. Yes, thank you. That would be wonderful. I really
don't care for Yahoo. We have a new genealogy software product called
Clooz 3.0, and after 7 months of self funding, we finally opened it up
for sale. Despite us being Constant Contact members and critically
attuned to the disgusting saga of SPAM, Yahoo immediately decided that
our e-mails containing the download and installation instructions for
purchasers were SPAM, and is now blocking our automatic messages. I
have to personally re-transmit every one of them.

I appreciate your kindness.
